The Country to Live in

This is the story of Dzmitryy Lukomski and Vyaleta Mayshuk, members of the “The Country to Live in” group. They campaigned for Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya during election campaign in Belarus. They were forced to leave Belarus due to persecution.

Dzmitryy Lukomski is a member of the “The Country to Live in” group, active participant in the 2020 protests. Together with like-minded people, in the summer of 2020 he organized rallies in the Homel Region to support the presidential candidate Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya. After August 9, he joined the protests against electoral fraud, as a result of which he was detained and severely beaten. Dzmitryy continued the protest, but was forced to emigrate to Ukraine with his girlfriend Vyaleta due to persecution. In exile, they recall the victories and failures of the “The Country to Live in” group. Dzmitryy is hoping for the victory of the revolution in Belarus and is waiting for him to return home to continue building a real country to live in with like-minded people.
