Three new political prisoners in Belarus


Human rights activists have recognized three more people as political prisoners. There are now 956 political prisoners in Belarus, the human rights center “Viasna” reports.

The human rights community of Belarus has recognized Uladzimir Sakalouski, Pavel Halyak, and Syarhei Nepahoda as political prisoners. They were sentenced to prison for allegedly committing violence against policemen.

Human rights activists demand an immediate review of the court decisions in relation to the prisoners with the right to a fair trial and their release with the use of other measures to ensure their appearance in court, as well as the release of all political prisoners.

There are currently 956 political prisoners in Belarus.
